Read the following information on what your Groupon includes and any rules and restrictions.
If you bought a Groupon with our recent promotion, here's the scoop on what you need to do.
What is it? Our professional wine advisors will come to your home and guide a wine tasting for you and your friends, sharing wine, wine facts, food pairings and fun. We help you with all the details, so the hardest thing you have to do is invite your wine loving friends. The goal of our wine tastings is to help identify your preferences for our wines, which will benefit charity. Each of our advisors sets a personal goal of 2-3 cases of wine preferences for each event. The more guests you have who regularly purchase wine and are wine enthusiasts, the more fun and successful it will be for YOU, the charity and the Wine Advisor. See the Wine Tasting page for more info on what your wine tasting includes.
Our events are special and you and your guests will have a fantastic time. However, if you are only looking for a bartender or a cheap party, please choose not to redeem your Groupon. Our advisors earn their living from these events and are working hard to make sure it is successful for you. Work together with your Wine Advisor to ensure the event is successful for everyone. You and your guests should come prepared to enjoy a true wine tasting experience and to help support the mission of Wines for Humanity through the selection of our fine wines.
Value. Our wine tastings are valued at over $300. Some hosts have paid in excess of $500 for a Wines for Humanity wine tasting! The Groupon discount is based on the value of what you receive, which is calculated on the retail cost of the wines and two hours with a professional wine advisor in your home. Special promotions may be offered to guests at tastings or current customers that offer the tasting at the same price as the Groupon offer. The company may also offer special promotions from time-to-time.
Tipping. Your Advisor is providing you with a service, and just like other service industries, if they met your needs, made you and your guests feel as if they were attending a special event, it is appropriate to tip on the value of goods received.
Areas serviced. We service areas within 30-35 miles of the Groupon area, but may be able to guide your tasting, depending on advisor availability. If the wine advisor must travel beyond 35 miles outside their home region for your event, there is a base mileage surcharge of $20 paid to the advisor who guides your tasting. If the advisor must travel outside 50 miles of their home region for your event, there may be an additional mileage surcharge, and additional restrictions may apply.

Contact Us. Contact us at least three weeks before you want to hold your wine tasting party. If you contact us with less advance notice, we may be able to fit it in, but rush fees may apply. There is no guarantee that your tasting will be able to be held on the first date you select due to wine advisor availability and other factors. If possible, before contacting us for your tasting, look at the Wine Advisor Availability page and select your primary preferred date and a second alternative date. Whenever possible, the tasting must be held before the expiration date. If you wish to extend your tasting beyond the expiration date, you must contact us prior to the expiration date and if there are no dates available, we will do our best to accomodate you--however, you should not expect to get a prime Friday or Saturday date.
Best days to book. Fridays and Saturdays book up first on our calendars (and in fact, all Fridays and Saturdays for the Groupon in Madison have already booked up), so you will want to consider a weekeday. Because of the popularity of these events, it is possible that even though we have discussed an available date, that it is booked by the time you confirm with us, so please be sure to include 2-3 dates that will work for your event, just to be safe. You can be sure that your event is confirmed when you receive the Wine Tasting Planning Details from your advisor showing the date and time of your event.
Winter in Wisconsin. Winter tastings in Wisconsin are always fun, so if snow above 2-3 inches is forecast, your tasting may need to be rescheduled. Please be sure to work out a "snowdate" with your Wine Advisor in advance of your event.
